World War I
There are many conditions that were introduced from the unsanitary trenches. One of these horrible conditions was known as trench foot. Many soldiers during World War One suffered from trench foot in the waterlogged trenches. They stood in the trenches for a long time without being able to change their wet socks or boots. This resulted in numbness of the feet and skin irritation. If trench foot was not cured it would result in amputation.
